Welcome to Normanby School

Kia ora koutou, nau mai, haere mai

A very warm welcome to Normanby School’s website.

We are a semi rural school just 5 km from Hawera. We generally start the year with 160 students in Years 1 – 6  and this climbs to about 190 by December.

Our website has been developed around our main school mural, designed and painted by a group of senior enrichment students.

It represents our core beliefs and values while recognising the importance of our maunga – Mount Taranaki.

Our school has a long history dating back to 1876. Our photo wall has some wonderful images dating back to the early 1900’s and there are logbooks, with the first entry dated March 20 1876, that make interesting reading and reflect the schooling of this era.

As a learning community we offer a rich and broad curriculum while also ensuring that there is a strong foundation of teaching in literacy and numeracy.

Learners with skills and interests in particular areas are catered for through our enrichment programme which is provided across all levels of the school. There is also specific support in place for those learners who need an extra boost.

Our school is a wonderful place full of dedicated teachers, supportive parents and focused, happy and engaged learners.

I hope that you find our site interesting and informative. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries or if I can help in anyway.

Nga mihi nui

Janelle Jones
